چکیده

This study tests the hypothesis that evaluation of thyroid nodule (TN) margin irregularities by three-dimensional ultrasound (3-D-US) distinguishes benign from malignant TNs with greater sensitivity and specificity than two-dimensional (2-D-US). We prospectively evaluated 344 using both 2-D-US 3-D-US followed fine needle aspiration biopsy. were divided into four groups based on appearance margins. Bi-variate multi-variate analyses used. Surgical pathology confirmed 44 cancers in 40 patients. For 2-D-US, irregular margins micro-calcifications (p < 0.001) found more frequently TNs. Irregular had a 61.4% 79.3%, respectively. 86.4% 83.3%, Sensitivity, specificity, positive negative predictive values higher for 2-D-US. Evaluation TN distinguished

Improving 3-D Imaging Breast Cancer Diagnosis Systems Using a New Method for Placement of Near-Infrared Sources and Detectors

The objective of this research was to improve 3-D imaging system by near-infrared light emission in breast tissue to achieve a more accurate diagnosis of tumor. The results of repeated experiments in this research have shown that with this imaging system, a more accurate diagnosis of abnormal area depends on the location of the sources and detectors. Therefore, an optimal location model has bee...

Thyroid function and cancer risk: a prospective population study.

BACKGROUND It has been hypothesized that thyroid function may influence cancer risk, but few studies with adequate statistical power have investigated this question, and the results have not been consistent. METHODS In a prospective study of 29,691 people (19,710 women and 9,981 men) without previously known thyroid disease, thyrotropin was measured at baseline, and cancer incidence was recor...

Ultrasound of thyroid cancer

The management of thyroid nodules is multi-disciplinary and involves head and neck surgeons, pathologists and radiologists. Ultrasound is easy to perform, widely available, does not involve ionizing radiation and is readily combined with fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC). It is therefore an ideal investigation of choice for evaluating thyroid nodules. It evaluates specific features that he...
